Funeral service for John D. Bowen of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Charles Grant will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 5-7 p.m. today.
Bowen, 57, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Van Buren, son of Ira and Elsie Schanks Bowen. He and Joyce Brown were married Dec. 31, 1958, at Bismarck. She died Aug. 22, 1993.
Bowen was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, majoring in music. He studied voice in New York City. He was a music teacher 20 years at Bernie and Dexter, retiring in 1983 because of ill health.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and the choir for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a brother, Richard Bowen of Jackson.
