MOUND CITY, Ill. -- John W. Coonrod, 83, of Mound City died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Meridian Manor Nursing Home in Mounds, Ill.

He was born Nov. 8, 1916, at Mound City, son of John and Dora Bell Coonrod.

He was a retired commercial fisherman.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He married Patricia Lingle Coonrod, who died in 1981.

Survivors include a son, Johnnie L. Coonrod of Mound City; a daughter, Linda Patrick of Grand Chain, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, a brother and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Ullin Cemetery at Ullin, Ill.
