JACKSON, Mo. -- John Robert Choate, 73, of Jackson died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Tunnel Hill, Ill., son of Gus and Ada Spencer Choate. He and Patricia J. James were married June 23, 1956, in Elgin, Ill.
Choate was employed at Ford Motor Co. in Chicago Heights, Ill., more than 27 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 588 in Chicago Heights, and attended Jackson Bible Chapel in Jackson.
He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lawrence Choate of Watson, Ill.; a daughter, Lisa Terdening of Beecher, Ill.; two sisters, Amy Liesemeyer and Mary Lauderdale of Metropolis, Ill.; two stepsisters; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, Ill., after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Bob Clark and John Englehart will officiate. Burial will be in Robinson-Wise Cemetery north of Ozark, Ill. Graveside rites will be conducted by Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222.
