TAMMS, Ill. -- John C. Burke, 65, of Tamms, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 5, 1928, at Blue Island, Ill., son of Joseph C. and Amelia Kuchta Burke.
He married Helen Penrod, Nov. 7, 1958.
Burke was a retired staff sergeant in the U.S. Army.
He worked for the Cairo Police Department and the Alexander County Sheriff's Department. He also worked as a security captain for Wells Fargo and Murray Guard Serves at the Bunge Corp., in Cairo, Ill., and Proctor and Gamble in Cape Girardeau.
Burke was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Ullin, Ill., and the Knights of Columbus in Cairo.
Survivors include his wife, two sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. A rosary service will be at 7:15 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Ullin, with Father William McGhee officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Johns Cemetery in Ullin.
