Funeral for John C. Bunting of Springfield, Ill., was held May 4, 2002, at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, Ill. Burial was in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Greenville.
Bunting, 40, died suddenly Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Nov. 9, 1961, in Alton, Ill., son of Charles A. and Margaret McNeely Bunting, formerly of Cape Girardeau.
Bunting attended Greenville schools, and received a degree in criminal justice from Southeast Missouri State University.
He worked for the Illinois State Police in the forensic science department, with a specialty in fingerprinting. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, and was a member of Okaw-Valley Amateur Radio Club and a charter member of KVS Gun Club.
Survivors include his mother of Greenville; a brother, Michael Bunting of Wylie, Texas; and a sister, Christine White of Greenville.
