BERNIE -- John Olen Bomar Sr., 87, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Okmulgee Hospital in Okmulgee, Okla.
He was born Jan. 2, 1912, in Formosa, Ark., son of Reuben and Levettie Aufenshine Bomar.
Bomar was a 1932 graduate of Formosa High School, and a former resident of the Bernie area.
He was an inspector at Oklahoma Steel Casting Co. 25 years, and then was a school crossing guard 10 years in Tulsa, Okla.
A veteran of World War II, he served six years in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Angus Valley Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Okla.
Survivors include three sons, John Bomar Jr. of Tulsa, Sam Bomar of Beggs, Okla., Jim Bomar of Coweta, Okla.; three daughters, Jannett Cross of Okmulgee, Joy Overton of Beggs, Judy Bomar of Tulsa; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters, two grandsons, nine brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Knapp officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery.
