FLOWER MOUND, Texas — John Alvin Baker III, 73, passed peacefully at Plano (Texas) Presbyterian Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023.
He was born March 24, 1949, in Cairo, Illinois, son of John Alvin Jr. and Iola Martin Baker.
John graduated from Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, Class of 1968. He married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Brennecke, on June 6, 1970.
After high school, he helped his mother run the family business. At Baker's Big Burger, he honed his skills in hospitality management and made a career that brought his family all the way to Texas with Long John Silver's.
He was an active member of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees, even serving as president.
He is survived by his mother, Iola Baker; son, John Baker IV, wife, Molly Baker, and their daughter, Hadley; daughter, Jenna Baker Edwards, and her husband, Josh Edwards; and siblings, Tina Bollinger, Brad Baker and Lisa Freeman.
John was predeceased by his father, John Alvin Baker Jr.; brother, Scott Wayne Baker; and his wife, Beverly.
Service for this ultimate Dallas Mavericks fan will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Flower Mound Family Funeral Home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Beverly.
