John Ashby II

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- John Matthew Ashby II was born Dec. 30, 1969. After many years of battling diabetes, John entered Heaven's Gates on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the age of 48 years.

John always met you with a smile and a story. His life will be celebrated every day through the legacy of his children and grandchildren.

John enjoyed fishing. He proudly served as a deputy sheriff and police officer in Iron, Madison, and Perry counties. John served these communities for nearly 20 years.

John continued working at the Community Sheltered Workshop after his health declined. John dedicated his life to serving his community and helping his fellow man. Badge No. 707 Thin Blue Line.

He was the beloved father of Amber and Tyler of Perryville, Missouri, and John Matthew III of Patton, Missouri; and loving grandfather of Lennon. He is also survived by cousins Vernon (Jennifer) Huffman Jr. and Mike (Carol Welch) Huffman, who he called his brothers, as well as many other relatives and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donna J. Nolen and John M. Ashby Sr.

He requested there be no services, and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the John Ashby Memorial Fund/Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown.
