MCGEE -- John A. Payne, 85, of McGee, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1993, at his home. He was born Aug. 20, 1908, at McGee, son of Levi and Lucy Bell Razor Payne. He and Virgie Williams were married March 25, 1932, at Arab. She died Oct. 27, 1992. Payne was a driver with Trailways 11 years, and had been a bus driver 26 years with Zalma and Greenville Schools. MCGEE -- John A. Payne, 85, of McGee, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1993, at his home.

He was born Aug. 20, 1908, at McGee, son of Levi and Lucy Bell Razor Payne. He and Virgie Williams were married March 25, 1932, at Arab. She died Oct. 27, 1992.

Payne was a driver with Trailways 11 years, and had been a bus driver 26 years with Zalma and Greenville Schools. He was a member of Shady Dell General Baptist Church at McGee.

Survivors include four sons, Denver Payne of Advance, Doyle Payne of Desloge, Avon Payne of Arnold, Lealean Payne of Edwardsville, Ill.; three daughters, Cleo Wisdom of Arnold, Loretta Edwards of Houston, Texas, Rita West of Lowndes; 24 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, three sisters, a grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. The Rev. Joe Allen will officiate, with burial in New Hope-McGee Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today.
