SIKESTON -- John A. "Red" Cowan, 72, of Sikeston died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born March 30, 1926, at Lilbourn, son of Albert and Betty Jones Cowan.
He and Virginia Holt were married Oct. 21, 1943, at Malden.
He had owned and operated Cowan Construction Company in Sikeston for more than 40 years.
He was a member of Sikeston Masonic Lodge No. 310 and Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Miner.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Mike Cowan of Sikeston; one daughter, Jana Wooley of Bloomfield; one brother, Joe Cowan of Terre Haute, Ind.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
One brother preceded him in death.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donny Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
