Joel Harold Harris, 85, of Jackson died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at his home.

He was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Millersville, to Maurice Edward and Georgia Ann Wilkinson Harris. He and Edna Irene Brugger were married April 27, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

Joel graduated from Jackson High School. He worked at the former Talley's Grocery, International Shoe Co., Jackson Hosiery Mill and Schaper's IGA, all in Jackson.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 6405.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Harris of Jackson; nieces and nephews, Ray Crites, Sue Reininger, Don, Jerry, Kenny Schremp, Dorothy Layton, Martha Smith, Mary Ellis, Margaret Brugger, Ben Brugger, and their loving families.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Crites; two nieces and two nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus rosary.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
