Joe Allan Morton, 76, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 20, 1937, in Neelys Landing, son of Ben B. and Clara Louise Jacob Morton. He and Agnes Randol were married May 4, 1957.

Joe was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School. He worked for Kraft Foods, Coca Cola Bottling Co. and Lipton Tea. He then owned and operated Morton Distributing, which distributes Tom's Snack Food, and retired in 2004. Joe was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. He enjoyed collecting die-cast trucks.

Loving survivors include his wife of 56 years, Agnes; three sons, Gregory Allan (Melody) Morton of Jackson, Timothy Joseph (Stephanie) Morton of Fredericktown, Mo., Kevin Lee (Joye) Morton of Valdosta, Ga.; a daughter, Amy Sue (John Jr.) Sailors of Sikeston, Mo.; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Clark Morton; and a sister, Louise Swan.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
