Joe E. Locke, 80, of Delta passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.
He was born Sept. 29, 1936, at the family home near Delta to the late Cloyes and Inez Morrison Locke.
He married Bobbie K. Smith Houseman in 1961.
Joe was a lifelong farmer in Delta and worked in construction. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Delta. He graduated from Delta High School in 1954. He also served on the Delta School Board for two years, and after retirement, he drove the school bus for several years. During Joe's younger years, he entered many horse shows and rodeos, where he competed in bull riding, bareback riding and steer wrestling.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1960, mainly serving in Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; two sons, Joe Bob Locke and K. Jeff (Dana) Houseman; a sister, Ruth Helen Lee; a granddaughter, Jessica S. Houseman; a niece, Nancy (Gary) Duncan; and nephews, Matthew and Andrew Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Marion and Jenny Morrison and Joe F. and Emma Douglas Locke; and a brother-in-law, Robert E. Lee.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Conn officiating.
Burial will be in Kenyon Cemetery at Delta with full military honors.
