Joe Lesem, 87, of DeLand, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Memorial Hospital-West Volusia in DeLand.
He was born Aug. 5, 1911, in Cape Girardeau, son of Milton and Josephine Lesem. He was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
Lesem was a member of First Christian Church, Rotary Club, and Chamber of Commerce in Cape Girardeau.
He owned Lesem Tire Co. 28 years. He moved to DeLand 15 years ago from St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife, Eva; three sons, Joe Lesem II of Jacksonville, Fla., Kenneth Lesem of Burlington, Vt., William Lesem of Morriston, Fla.; a daughter, Eve Mertens of Southborough, Mass.; two sisters, Edith Orr of Milwaukie, Ore., Anna McFarland of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His body was donated to science.
There is no visitation or service.
Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand is in charge of arrangements.
