Joe E. Flood, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at St. Mary's Health Center in St. Louis.
He was born April 12, 1930, at Steele, Mo., son of Joe Berry and Zelmer R. Grindstaff Flood. He married Louise Rose Frederick.
Flood was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. He served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in December 1969. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Flood had been general manager at Anna Gazette in Anna, Ill. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and its Rosary Group, Perpetual Adoration at Saint Francis Medical Center, Cursillo Group and Marian Movement for Priests.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Lawrence Flood of Highlands Ranch, Colo., William Flood of San Ramon, Calif., Gerald Flood of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Victoria Wibbenmeyer of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Elizabeth Leonard of Symsonia, Ky.; a brother, Bobby Flood of Reno, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 7 by St. Vincent Rosary Group.
Funeral Mass will be at 8 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Charles Prost officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, with full military honors to be conducted.
