JACKSON, Mo. -- Joseph C. "Joe" Engelhart Jr., 45, of Jackson passed away Monday, March 5, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call Thursday, March 8, 4-8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Mo. The Rev. John Kiehl will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jon and Phillip Statler, Rob Vogel, Bryce Engelhart, Josh Reisenbichler and Jim Shelton.
Joe was born July 22, 1955, in Cape Girardeau, son of J. Charles "Charlie" and Joy Statler Engelhart. He and Jeanette Andersen were married April 28, 1979, at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Loving survivors include his wife; his parents of rural Jackson; a sister, Frances Engelhart of Cape Girardeau; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dirk and Patti Engelhart and Paul and Carol Engelhart, all of rural Jackson; two nephews, Tyler and Jeremy Engelhart; three nieces, Katelyn, Alexis and Rachel Engelhart; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joe was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Jackson High School and worked as a carpenter. In 1978 he formed Engelhart Construction and Fireside Log Homes. He was currently working for Oak Ridge School District.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. John's Building Fund, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Foundation.
