SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Joe Elmer Woodey of New Madrid will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Raymond Britt will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Jerry Dudley. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
Woodey, 84 years old, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born July 12, 1906, in Bono, Ark., son of Nelson Alexander and Nancy Ann Williams Woodey. He and the former Vernie Alma Davis were married Aug. 29, 1931, in Bono. She died April 21, 1982.
Woodey was a retired farmer, and attended Kewanee Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Bobby Woodey of Memphis, Tenn., Clarence Woodey of West Memphis, Ark., Will Woodey of Blytheville, Ark., Charles Woodey of Cadiz, Ky., James Woodey of Sikeston; four daughters, Anita Rickmon of Stickney, Ill., Shirley Leggett of Blytheville, Kathy Wilson of Morehouse, Tricia Allen of Fenton; a sister, Trudie Linderman of Sikeston; 20 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
