SIKESTON -- Joseph W. Dye, 72, of Sikeston died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Sikeston, son of Tanner C. and Cora Matthews Dye. He and Lula Craft were married April 27, 1949. She died Aug. 20, 1997.
Dye was a 1943 graduate of Sikeston High School, attended Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
He was owner and operator of Dye Seed Services in Morehouse from 1958-94. Dye was a member of Southeast University Board of Regents from 1968-73. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, had been a member of Jaycees, and member of Sikeston School Board Advisory Council. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Charles Dye of Sikeston; a daughter, Patti Oetting of Sikeston; a brother, Bob Dye of Laurinburg, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home, with Dr. Jim Davis and the Rev. Fred Leist officiating. Burial will be in Sikeston City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until service time.
