JOE DODSON

SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Joe Dodson will be at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, with the Rev. Jim King officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce.

Dodson, 79, formerly of Commerce, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 2, 1918, at Vanduser, the son of Lee and Bertha Encore Dodson.

He married Wanda Sparks on Aug. 30, 1942, at St. Charles. She survives.

He was riverboat engineer for Grant Towing Co. He had lived in Scott City for the last five years, moving from Commerce.

He is survived by two sons, Glen Dodson of Commerce and Ron Dodson of St. Peters; two daughters, Jaunita Brazel of Commerce and Jo Ann Gibbar of Scott City; a brother, Bill Dodson of Benton; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
