CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Raymond Joseph "Joe" Burton, 43, of Charleston died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Barnes Jewish Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident. CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Raymond Joseph "Joe" Burton, 43, of Charleston died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Barnes Jewish Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born May 28, 1957, in St. Louis, son of Raymond and Mary Bea Clinton Burton. He and Jill Collier were married Dec. 30, 1983.

He was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Sikeston. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, the Kings of Columbus and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nathaniel Burton and Evan Burton of the home; a daughter, Laura Grace Burton, of the home; and three sisters, Lou Ella Harper, Theresa Stephenson and Bonnie Scheffer, all of Charleston.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.. today at the funeral home, with Fr. Gerald Brown officiating.

Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church, with Monsignor Mike Swalina officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
