Joe Allen Burk, 74, of San Antonio, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away at home Thursday, April 10, 2014.
He was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Grassy, Mo., to the late Willard and Bessie Burk.
Joe graduated from Lutesville High School in 1957. He served in the Navy from 1957 to 1963. After his service, Joe graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1970. He worked at Farmers & Merchants Bank and First Federal Savings and Loan 22 years. Joe was a Mason 47 years.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; two children, Jeff Burk of St. Louis and Kim Maertens of San Antonio; and three grandchildren, Joe Burk, Jordan Smith and Kaden Maertens.
He was preceded in death by sisters Doris, Corinne, Wilma and Ginny; and a brother, Fred.
Joe's ashes will be interred Tuesday with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
A celebration of Joe's life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4 at Jones Heritage Farms, 5739 Route W in Jackson.
