After a long valiant fight, we say goodbye to our dear brother, Joe Robb Blattner, 72, of Cape Girardeau. He died Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Cape Girardeau to Donald Kies Blattner and Constance Muriel Robb Blattner.

Joe was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School.

He worked at the former Sunny Hill Motor Inn, Bunny Bread and Holiday Inn.

He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. Joe had been active in AA for more than 40 years. He loved hunting and fishing.

Loving survivors include brother, Chris (Karen) Blattner of Jackson; sister, Dorinda (Terry) Abbott of Cape Girardeau; nephew, Donald (Melissa Miller) Blattner of Jackson; two nieces, Brooke Blattner and Stephanie (Rick) Vines of Cape Girardeau; two great-nieces, Kailee Griffith and Victoria (Ethan) Vines-Swain of Cape Girardeau; and great-nephew, Eli (Krista Valentine) Vines of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice.
