CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Joanne Richards, daughter of the late Ruby Bailey, was born April 30, 1934, in Roach, Missouri, and departed this life Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, in Cape Girardeau at the age of 86 years after a long battle with respiratory disease.
She was always a hard worker from the time she was a teenager. Joanne did everything from waitressing to assembly line work to working in the educational system. She received her GED at the age of 60 and worked for the Chaffee Nutrition Center while battling COPD until her retirement.
Joanne was a member of the Chaffee community for over 25 years. She enjoyed bowling, crossbow hunting, reading, photography and crossword puzzles. She was always there for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren while they were growing up. She will be remembered as a very loving, caring and selfless women.
She is survived by her five children, Lana (Joe) Ezell of Metropolis, Illinois; Janine (Doug) Shipman of Dexter, Missouri; Scott (Brandie) Dicks, Colleen (Craig) Ramsey and Sheila Hadley, all of Chaffee; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with Rev. Clyde Quick officiating.
