Joan Malone

Joan Maxine Malone, 82, of Jackson passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau where she had resided since August 2010.

She was born Jan. 21, 1930, in Chaffee, Mo., to Willie and Blanche Totty Eldridge. She married Hoyt H. Malone on Oct. 18, 1952. He died June 10, 1971.

Joan attended Jackson High School and was a member of Crossroads Fellowship Church. At the beginning of World War II, her family moved to Detroit where her parents worked for the Chrysler Corp. In 1963, Joan moved back to Jackson and went to work for Lee-Rowan Co., where she remained until 1972 when she went into private home care.

She is survived by two sons, Patrick W. Malone and Randy L. Malone, both of Jackson; a daughter, Beverly A. Anderson of Trenton, S.C.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Billie G. Eldridge of Gadsden, Ala., and Bob Eldridge of Prattville, Ala.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brian Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
