Joan Farrow, 79, formerly of the Indian Creek community, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau where she had lived the past five years. Joan Farrow, 79, formerly of the Indian Creek community, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau where she had lived the past five years.

She was born Dec. 12, 1930, in the New Bethel, Mo., community, to Andrew J. and Lillie D. "Sis" Bishop McClard. Joan and John Farrow Jr. had been married 17 years when he died Feb. 14, 1997.

Joan's nursing career led her to employment at the hospitals in Hayti, Mo., and Steele, Mo., and many nursing homes in the Cape Girardeau and Jackson areas.

Survivors include three children, Gregory (Mary) Cotner of San Antonio, Vicki Jo (Carl) Hall of Little Rock, Ark., Dr. Cynthia Sprigg of Cape Girardeau; six stepchildren, John W. Farrow of Jackson, David A. Farrow of Randles, Stanley R. Farrow and Samuel J. Farrow of Jackson, Brenda Sue Farrow of Cape Girardeau, Martha Ann Johnson of Jackson; three siblings, Judy (Gary) Wilkinson of Jackson, David McClard of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Randy (Sharon) McClard of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Jack Bishop will officiate a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
