Joan E. Hayden

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Joan E. Hayden, 72, of Perryville died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Perry Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation in Perryville.

She was born Feb. 20, 1938, in Perry County, Mo., daughter of Edward and Stella Moore Esselman. She was married July 27, 1957, to Harvey H. Hayden.

Mrs. Hayden was the owner/operator of Harvey's Restaurant. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality in Sereno, Mo.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Rickie (Patricia) Hayden of Perryville; two daughters, Tina (Russell) Richardet of Perryville and Patricia "Trish" (Jeff) Becker of St. Louis; two brothers, Eugene (Rita) Esselman of Quincy, Ill., and Jerry (Wanda) Esselman of St. Louis; two sisters, Delores (Hilary) Schumer and Mary (late Albert) Baker, both of Florida; eight grandchildren: David, Miranda and Melissa Hayden, Ryan and Justin Richardet, Hunter, Alexis and baby boy Becker.

Mrs. Hayden was preceded in death by her parents and three sons, David, Harvey Jr. and an infant son.

Visitation for Mrs. Hayden will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home chapel. The rosary will be said at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno, with Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials to the donor's charity of choice are preferred.
