Jo Ann Hansen, 76, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
One of five children, she was born May 9, 1935, in Gideon, Mo., to Fredrick Lee and Emily Geneva Winchester Hansen.
Jo Ann was a 1953 graduate of the former Lutesville High School. She had a 40-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., first working as an operator in Marble Hill, Mo., and Cape Girardeau, and then in accounting in St. Louis. She retired in 1994 and moved back to Jackson.
She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Jackson and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Loving survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Ken) Grothman of Jackson; two grandchildren, Megan Grothman of St. Louis and Kenny Grothman of Jackson; and four siblings, Alice Filer, Janet VanGennip and Kathy Wallis, all of Jackson; Jack (Nel) Hansen of Burnsville, Minn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Vaught officiating.
Interment will follow in Bollinger County Memorial Cemetery in Marble Hill.
