Jimmy Lee Hester, 48, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born March 5, 1955, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., son of Earl David and Imogene Edson Hester. He and Sherry Kay Hughey were married Sept. 5, 1992, in Perryville, Mo.
Hester was shop foreman at Cape Paint and Glass, and also worked at Arena Park Golf. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Hester; a daughter, Stephanie Hester; four stepchildren, Kermit Hughey and Seth Smith of Hiram, Mo., Jason Smith of Cape Girardeau, Rogene Colin of Perryville, Mo.; his mother and stepfather, Imogene and Lugene Smith of Mount Vernon; a sister, Sherry Hester of Mount Vernon; a brother, Dan Hester of Scottsdale, Ariz.; several grandchildren; a niece, Hailey Williams of Mount Vernon; two nephews, Paxton Hester of Baton Rouge, La., and Keith Hester of Opelousas, La.
He was preceded in death by his father, and an uncle, Bob Edson.
Friends may call at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau from 6 to 9 p.m. today, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Terry Edson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Mount Vernon.
