JIMMY DOWDY SR.

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Jimmy Joe Dowdy Sr. of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Mo. Don Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Dowdy, 59, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 16, 1940, at Steele, Mo., son of James Thomas and Louella Goodwin Dowdy. He and Janetta Rosielee Britt were married April 30, 1960.

Dowdy was a truck driver. He moved to Sikeston several years ago from East Prairie.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jimmy, Jonathan, Travis and Michael Dowdy, all of Sikeston; three daughters, Tina Eberley, Crickett Berry and Tammy Williams, all of Sikeston; his mother of Sikeston; a brother, Kenny Dowdy of East Prairie; a sister, Ruby George of Sikeston; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
