Jimmie Don Schwettman, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 12, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, to Darl "Putz" and Selma Heise Schwettman. He and Carolyn Jane Routon were married March 16, 1963, in Cape Girardeau.
Schwettman was a riverboat captain with Western Kentucky Navigation, and a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Cyndi (Mike) Schutt of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Jack Schwettman of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Margie McAnally of Jackson; and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Clayton Schutt.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Burial will be in Heim Cemetery in Dawson, Neb.
The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
