Jimmie Lee Smyth, son of Alvin Smyth and Sarah B. Manion Smyth, was born on May 8, 1930, and departed this life May 3, 2021 in O'Fallon, Missouri, at the age of 90 years.
He was born and grew up in the Pyle Community.
Jimmie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, graduated from Dexter High School and University of Missouri, Rolla, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
In January 1956, Jimmie joined the U.S. Navy, serving four years, during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in the Submarine Service at Pearl Harbor, earning the rank of Electrician's Mate 2nd Class.
On Nov. 6, 1955 he was united in marriage to Ann Robinson in Dexter, Missouri.
Survivors, besides his wife, include one daughter, Linda Simpkins (Jim) of Louisville Kentucky; sons, Craig Smyth (Kristina) and Michael Smyth (Cecilia) of St. Charles, Missouri; brothers, Alvin Smyth of Cape Girardeau and Michael Smyth (Beverly) of Meridian, Idaho; grandchildren, Tom Smyth, Kelli Smyth Barry (Shawn), Courtney Simpkins and Shelby Simpkins, Tim Lattimer (Jennifer), Esteven Espinosa, Leann Smyth, Lisa Smyth and Jimmie lee Smyth; and great-grandchildren, Abby Smyth, Lincoln and Emerson Barry and Miles Lattimer.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Smyth, and sisters, Mary Ellen Sisler and Malinda Allen.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A committal service will be conducted at a later date at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
