JOSHUA, Texas -- Jim Underwood, 67, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
The funeral was held Tuesday in Greenwood Chapel, with the Rev. Russ Weaver officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas.
Pallbearers were David Lewis, Brandon Morton, Garrett Sparkman, Joe Gross, Cowboy Sisk and Boyd Cudup. Honorary pallbearer was Greg Sparkman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 6977 Main St., Houston, Texas, 77030.
Jim Underwood was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Grand Tower, Ill.
He was a member of Shepherd's Valley Cowboy Church in Egan, and was a 32nd Degree Mason at a Cape Girardeau lodge and was a Shriner.
Jim served in the National Guard and was instrumental in starting the Johnson County Saddle Club.
He retired from Mrs. Baird's Bakery as the supervisor of transport, and was an auctioneer.
He loved to hunt, fish and hear the sound of the ocean.
Most importantly, Jim was a loving and devoted family man. He lived his life for his girls.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carole Underwood; mother, Ilene Milne; daughters, Toni Lewis and husband David, Lisa Sparkman and husband Greg, Debbie Gross and husband Joe, Becky Sisk and husband Cowboy, and Shelly Cudup and husband Boyd; grandchildren, Brandon Morton, Garrett and Kaci Jo Sparkman, Ashley Rickman, Cody and Blake Sisk; and a sister, Shirley Glodo.
