TAMMS, Ill. -- James L. "Jim" RedCloud, 66, of Tamms died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, Ill., son of Everett and Alice Jenkins RedCloud. He married Rose Mayberry on June 2, 1955.
RedCloud retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 23 years and was also a retired farmer.
He was president of Mississippi Valley Coon Hunters Association more than 25 years. He was a member of Caledonia Lodge 47 AF&AM. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the Army as First COA 54th Engineer Battalion assistant squad leader. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife, Rose RedCloud of Tamms; two sons and daughters-in-law, James L. Jr. and Sharon RedCloud of Ullin, Ill., Michael D. and Beth RedCloud of Eau Claire, Wis.; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Michael Ashworth of Tamms.
Also 10 grandchildren, Michelle (Clint) Nale and James R. RedCloud III of Ullin, Della Rose (Steven) Miller and Bobbie (Amanda) RedCloud of Corinth, Miss., Michael Dowdy of Paducah, Ky., Ashley RedCloud and Chad Michael RedCloud of Eau Claire, Jamie Ashworth of Springerton, Ill., Jennifer Ashworth and Jason Ashworth of Tamms; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nale, Storm Miller, Ashlie and Brittany RedCloud.
Also three brothers, Everett "Richard" RedCloud Jr. and wife Naomi of Dongola, Ill., Robert and JoAnn RedCloud of Ozark, Ala., Charles and Patricia RedCloud of Elco, Ill.; two sisters, Helen Severs and May Ellen Robinson of Ullin; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant brothers; a brother, Carl RedCloud; and three great-grandchildren, Ramsey Nicole Nale, Mellissa and Allison Miller.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, and on Monday until time of service. Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday by Caledonia Lodge.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. The Rev. Billy Don Heady, the Rev. Richard Martin and the Rev. Clint Nale will officiate. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Mound City, Ill., with military graveside rites conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
