Harold E. "Jim" Griffin, 66, of Conway, Ark., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001. He was born July 29, 1935, son of Harold W. and Jewel Griffin. Harold E. "Jim" Griffin, 66, of Conway, Ark., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001.

He was born July 29, 1935, son of Harold W. and Jewel Griffin.

Griffin attended Arkansas Tech and received a master's degree in education from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 1959. He received a degree in education from the University of Missouri in 1972.

He was an instructor at Southeast Missouri State University and recently retired after 12 years at the University of Central Arkansas.

Griffin was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Conway, a 32nd Degree Mason, and member of the Masonic Lodge in Newburg, Mo.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Pegge; three sons, Hal and Kirk Griffin and Doug Davis; a daughter, Denece Ferebee; his father; three brothers, Bill, Ray and Ron Griffin; a sister, LaVerne Griffin; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, Ark., from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
