BARDWELL, Ky. -- James Frederick "Jim" Dodson, 73, of Bardwell, formerly of Scott City, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

Jim was born July 29, 1938, at Tamms, Ill., the son of the late Earl and Flossie Hurston Dodson.

Jim was a retired truck driver for ABC Trucking Co., was of the Catholic faith, was past president of the Eagles Club of Cape Girardeau and was a Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Sherman Dodson.

Survivors include a loving daughter, Kara (Keith) Barnett of Winfield, Mo.; a brother, Raymond (Nona) Dodson of Thebes, Ill.; a sister, Vera (Jim) Buster of Bardwell; a special niece, Latreese (Bill) Arnold; several nephews; and a special friend, Cathy Madden of Cunningham, Ky.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.

The funeral will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Cemetery in rural Dongola, Ill., with full military honors given by the Illinois National Guard and area veterans.
