JACKSON -- Funeral service for James "Jim" Davenport of Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. O. David Griffin will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel from 3-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
Davenport, 75, died Thursday, June 5, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 6, 1921, at Leemon, son of James M. and Maude Shelton Davenport. He and Pat Masterson were married Dec. 29, 1949, at Old Appleton.
Davenport had been a sales representative with Borden Ice Cream. He was also a sales representative at the former Monroe Glass Co. a number of years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, member and past master of Excelsior Lodge 441, Andrew Jackson Order 43 Sword of Bunker Hill, and 32nd Degree Mason with Scottish Rite Valley of St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kirk Davenport of Austin, Texas; a sister, Evelyn Roth of Denver, Colo.; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, six sisters, and five brothers.
