ST. LOUIS -- Jim Allen Brinkman, 62, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, surrounded in love by his soul mate, loving family and lifelong friends after a short battle with lung cancer.

Jim was born on Christmas Day in 1954 in Fairbanks, Alaska, to parents Glen and Joan Brinkman.

He was a 1973 graduate of Lutheran High South. He recently retired from Dierbergs Markets Inc., where he spent many dedicated years as an assistant produce manager.

Jim and his wife, Jill Custer-Brinkman, enjoyed spending time together hiking, fishing, playing disc golf and listening to music. He was an avid reader who enjoyed history, especially relating to the Civil War.

His family and friends will remember him as an unselfish, happy, fun-loving person. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all.

An outdoor memorial service will be held for Jim at a later date.

Donations in Jim's name can include planting a tree in his honor or a donation to the charity of your choice, Missouri Conservationist, or SSM Cancer Center in St. Louis.
