EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Jim Blackman of the Dogwood community will be held at 1 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel here. The Revs. Harold Norton and Richard McGehee will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Blackman, 75, died Monday, June 13, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 8, 1914, at Charleston, son of Marshall and Hattie Watson Blackman. He and Blanche Maxwell were married in April 1946.

Blackman was a farmer and active in numerous farming organizations. He served as a director of East Prairie School District 12 years. He was a member of Dogwood United Methodist Church, had served on the board, was a Sunday School teacher for the Youth Class, and substitute teacher for the Adult Class.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, James Blackman of Jackson, Tenn., Randall Blackman of Gulfport, Miss., Phil Blackman of the Dogwood community; two brothers, Bill Blackman of Bertrand, Marshall Blackman of Sikeston; a sister, Helen Haas of Charleston, and a granddaughter.
