Jim Baylor, 75, of Jackson died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 3, 1941, in Cape Girardeau to Eldon and Elizabeth Rhyne Baylor. He and Judy Valleroy were married Friday, March 11, 1966, at Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Jim was a 1960 graduate of College High School. He was one of the first Eagle Scouts from Troop 5 and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.

He served in the Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War.

He was a salesman for 50 years for various companies but retired from Reppert's Office Supplies.

He was a two-time past commander and served in the Color Guard of VFW Post 3838, where he was a lifetime member. He belonged to American Legion Post 63. He was also a lifetime member of the 509th Bomb Wing Veterans Association.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Baylor of Jackson; daughter Susan (Bryan) Hartnagel of Columbia, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Brooke and Kaitlyn Hartnagel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melissa Baylor; and a brother, Eldon "Sonny" Baylor.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rickey Valleroy officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Graveside military rites will be provided by the Missouri Honors Team and VFW Post 3838.

Memorial contributions may be given to Cardinal Glennon Hospital.
