OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- J.H. Buie, 84, of Olive Branch died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1917, at Parma, Mo., son of Dee and Nellie Elizabeth Browning Buie. He and Laffetta Jean Durham were married Aug. 19, 1937.
Buie was a retired officer from Menard Correctional Center at Chester, Ill., where he worked 30 years. From his work at Menard he was a member of the Illinois State Police Association.
He was affiliated with Gospel Assembly Church in Anna, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Edward J. Buie of Tamms, Ill.; two daughters, Patsy G. Brodnicki of Decatur, Ill., Loretta Jean Barnes of Jackson, Mo.; a brother, Charles B. Hazel of Eastland, Texas; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, James H. Buie in 1967.
Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. today at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Olive Branch.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the church, with the Revs. Walter Stevenson, James Bolden and Carl Hester officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
Crain Funeral Home at Tamms is in charge of arrangements.
