OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- J.H. Buie, 84, of Olive Branch died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1917, at Parma, Mo., son of Dee and Nellie Elizabeth Browning Buie. He and Laffetta Jean Durham were married Aug. 19, 1937.
He worked for 30 years at Menard Correctional Center at Chester, Ill. He was a member of the Illinois State Police Association.
He was affiliated with Gospel Assembly Church in Anna.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Edward J. Buie of Tamms, Ill.; two daughters, Patsy G. Brodnicki of Decatur, Ill., and Loretta Jean Barnes of Jackson, Mo.; a brother, Charles B. Hazel of Eastland, Texas; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Assembly of God Church.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Revs. Walter Stevenson, James Bolden and Carl Hester officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
