TAMMS, Ill. -- Jewell E. Tinsley, 87, of Tamms died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born in McClure, Ill., Dec. 10, 1923, to James Everett and Ruth May Benefield Phillips. She married Asa Tinsley June 3, 1939. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1990.
Jewell was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She retired from Burkhart Foam where she was an inspector.
She is survived by two brothers, Stanley and Eugene Phillips of Tamms; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jewell was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two infant daughters; a son, Gerald "Sonny" Tinsley; and two brothers, Charles and Louis Phillips.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Raymond McAfee officiating. Interment will be in McCrite Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to McCrite Cemetery or Unity Baptist Church, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
