SIKESTON -- Jewell R. Hinkle, 80, of Sikeston died Sunday, March 5, 1995, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Hailwell, Ky., the son of Dave and Etta Mae Thomas Hinkle.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. For 20 years, he was a truck driver for Potlatch-Forrest Company in Sikeston. He also worked for Bob McCord Enterprises and Rudy's Furniture Company in Sikeston. Since 1970, he had been a member of the Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 in Sikeston.

He married Frances L. Holly Sept. 23, 1935 in Fulton, Ky.

Survivors include his wife, seven daughters, Sue Hinkle and June Morgan of Sikeston, Charlotte Hoover of Memphis, Tenn., Darlene Hetherly of Wappapello, Dianna Tschopp of Davenport, Iowa, Joanna Butler of Des Moines, Iowa, and Donna Downs of Colona, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A grandson preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Keith Wilson will officiate, and burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
