ORAN -- Jewell (Cotton) Anderson, 68, of Oran, died Saturday, April 20, 1991, at the North Scott County Medical Center in Chaffee.

He was born in West Plains on June 26, 1922, to the late Walter and Mary Peace Anderson.

He married Dorothy Cook on June 24, 1961. She survives.

He worked at the Oaks Conoco gas station in Sikeston for 13 years then was the water superintendent for the city of Oran for 16 years, retiring in July 1990.

He was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II, and was a winner of the man of the year award in Oran in 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Anderson and Bill Anderson, both of Oran; one daughter, Connie Chasteen of Chaffee; one brother, Russell Anderson of Oran; one sister, Dorris Pearson of Sikeston; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Friends may call at the Amick- Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 5 p.m. today. A prayer service by the Knights of Columbus' Council 4311 will be held today at 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The Rev. Wes Taylor will preside.

Burial will be at Friend Cemetery in Oran.
