Jessie L. Hanschen, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home. She was born June 23, 1920, in Gordonville, to Jess and Ida Gerecke Quade. She and Walter "Hen" Hanschen were married March 14, 1945, at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. Hen passed away Jan. 14, 1991...

Jessie L. Hanschen, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

She was born June 23, 1920, in Gordonville, to Jess and Ida Gerecke Quade. She and Walter "Hen" Hanschen were married March 14, 1945, at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. Hen passed away Jan. 14, 1991.

Jessie was baptized Aug. 2, 1923, and confirmed March 25, 1934, at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville, where she later taught kindergarten Sunday school and was active in the Ladies Aid.

Jessie's employment includes the former International Shoe Co. and the former Schaper's IGA in Jackson, and 20 years at R&M Enterprises in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1988.

Loving survivors include two sons, Darrell (Cheryl) Hanschen and Steve (Lisa) Hanschen all of Jackson; a daughter, Vickie (Gerald) Neumeyer of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Tracey (Mark) Schabbing of Perryville, Greg Neumeyer of Jackson, Shaun (Scarlett) Hanschen of Sikeston, Brittany Hanschen of Cape Girardeau, Leslie (Brian) Schmid of Clarksdale, Ark., Caitlin Drum of Jackson, Danielle (Troy) Nussbaum of Crump; and seven great-grandchildren, Linden, Sydney, Will, Austin, Lucy, Noah and Aubrey.

Also surviving are two brothers, Clarence Quade of Cape Girardeau, Clyde (Dorothy) Quade of Gordonville; four sisters, Clara Cracraft of Cape Girardeau, Ruby (Leslie) Cook of Cape Girardeau, Betty (Lawrence) Brucker of Delta, and Patsy (Richard) Morgan of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Curtis; and two sisters, Lorene and Irene.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Gary Hoffstetter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville.
