Jessie M. Hanks, 88, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Marion, Ill., died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born May 6, 1910, at Texas City, Ill., daughter of William Andrew and Ethel Wilson Fitzgerald. She and Cecil W. Hanks were married on May 6, 1945, at Alton, Ill. He died Aug. 15, 1991.
She worked with the Olin Corp. of East Alton as a product inspector for 32 years until her retirement in 1972.
She was of the Methodist faith, last attending the New McKendree Methodist Church at Jackson.
Survivors include a son, Dorlas "Buck" Hays of Jackson; two stepsons, Larry Hanks of Alton and Kent Hanks of Godfrey, Ill.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home at Marion from noon to 3:30 Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Thomas Richards will officiate, with burial in the Hanks Family Cemetery.
