COMMERCE, Mo. -- Jessie Cox, 93, of Commerce died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.
She was born April 20, 1913, in New Madrid County, daughter of Louie Jackson and Mary Albertine Snider Organ. She and Roy Richard Cox were married March 16, 1929. He died July 18, 1990.
Cox lived in the Bridges community in Mississippi County most of her life, moving to Commerce six years ago. She had worked at Knight's Department Store in Charleston, Mo., and was a member of Bridges United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Harold and Adon Cox of Charleston, Tommy Cox of Commerce, Roy Cox of DeSoto, Mo.; four daughters, Phyllis Williams of St. Louis, Janet Baker of Chicago, Nancy Kindle of Morehouse, Libby Stracener of Charleston; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, three brothers, four sisters, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Leland Butler and David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery near Charleston.
