CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Jessica Sue Kirstein, 46, died Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Castle Rock.

She was born in 1976 in Cape Girardeau to Jim and Becky Hicks.

She graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1994 and earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Truman State University.

In 2001, Jessica married Brian Kirstein, and in 2010 they welcomed their daughter, Hannah.

Jessica worked in telecommunications for many years in Missouri and Colorado, and was widely respected by her colleagues.

Jess will be loved and remembered always for her devotion to family and her love for her "monster" Hannah, her sharp wit, her inimitable style — equally admired and begrudged by her siblings — and her favorite exclamation, "cool beans".

She is survived by her husband, Brian, and their daughter, Hannah; her three siblings; and her parents.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. at Thursday, June 15, at the church, with Pastor Tim Koehler officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
