Jesse Eaker

Jesse Glen Eaker, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Oct. 21, 1926, in Lutesville, Missouri, to Glen and Furlie James Eaker. He and Marjorie Lee Moneyhun were married June 11, 1967, at Union, Missouri. She passed away Sept. 24, 2013.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.

He was owner/operator of Jesse G. Eaker Contractor from 1967 to 1982.

He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Jesse coached baseball for several years; he loved working with the young people and seeing the potential they had for the future.

He also enjoyed doing woodwork projects and seeing the happiness it brought to those when completed.

He was an avid golfer and had nine holes-in-one to his credit, which made him the envy of his golf buddies. Jesse always had a smile, loved his family and his faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Donna J. (Harry Crossman) Bruns of Dallas; son, Danny G. (Martha) Eaker of Cape Girardeau; brother, James Eaker of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Paul (Kim) Hawkins and Lance (Toni) Craft; and great-grandchildren, Korrina Hawkins, Triston Hawkins, Skylar Craft and Kael Craft.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roy Jones officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Roderick Crist and his staff and Ratliff Care Center and staff.
