SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Jesse Oneal Coats, 84, of Scott City died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 16, 1917, at Fornfelt, Mo., son of Jesse Frank and Alta Oneal Coats. He and Evelyn Rose were married Dec. 7, 1941, at Jackson, Mo...

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Jesse Oneal Coats, 84, of Scott City died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 16, 1917, at Fornfelt, Mo., son of Jesse Frank and Alta Oneal Coats. He and Evelyn Rose were married Dec. 7, 1941, at Jackson, Mo.

Coats was a locomotive engineer for Cotton Belt Railroad.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, was a member of H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 of Cape Girardeau, a life member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and VFW Post 6407 of Scott City.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Coats of New Bloomfield, Mo.; a daughter, Rebecca Huck of Jackson; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 6-8 p.m. today. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Zackery Strong will officiate.
